Furniture manufacturers have been shown a path

Majority of largest soft furniture manufacturing companies have raised their prices by 30% this year, which resulted in decrease of their sales in the capital. However the overall sales amounts have increased due to small businesses and importers. Experts say, that in order to stay in business, companies will need to work with regions more effectively.

New street furniture will appear in the center of Odessa over the year. All bus stops, benches, trash cans, flowerbeds, street lights and kiosks will be replaced by new and carried out in one style. As "Segodnya" newspaper states, big changes are awaiting for the outdoor advertising: all advertising vehicles will be fetched down and replaced with new.

European Union will help small and medium-sized businesses

As part of the international project "Support of small and medium-sized businesses in Ukraine - international choice" from 15 to 20 small and medium-sized businesses willing to come out to international market or receive a foreign investment will be chosen in six administrative districts of Ukraine.

Business owners from Lviv region will be first to take part in project, where highest priority has small and medium-sized wood-treatment and furniture manufacturing businesses. Business in Lviv region is concentrated in this sector, especially wood-working field, aimed for export.

After Lviv region, businessmen from Kyiv, Donetsk and Dnipropetrovsk administrative districts can get consultation and help. Project supervisors consider these regions to have the highest number of small and medium-sized businesses. The goal of this project is to help businessmen to become more competitive and not to lose their positions after joining Ukraine to WTO.

Project is financed by European Union. Its head Ken Nakbar expects that amount of Ukrainian export will go up by 5% before August 2008. Thanks to this project businesses can find partners and investors for further development. Ken Nakbar says that Ukraine will go up by 10 points in rating of business growth and become 129^th .

One, who will get a chance to take part in this project can make use of consulting services, take part in trainings, learn how to compose marketing plans of export activities, find business partners. Project supervisors promise to organize business missions from Europe to Ukraine and vice versa.
